Not an uncommon problem with that generation. There were a couple of bulletins on that series where dried up electrolytics could cause the problem (not something for non-technical folks). Also, the cable connector from the transport to the main board (square looking about 8or 9 pins? on a ribbon) caused the flasing red no power problem.
If not capacitor related, disconnecting & reconnecting the connector may restore the operation. That chasis was actually made by LG/goldstar.
Have not seen one for some time & going by memory |

I have the same exact problem as the previous poster described! The StandBy light continuously blinks, but pressing the Power-On button fails to start the unit. The StandBy light just continues to blink. No power on, no use. The unit is effectively useless in this state.
After a couple of years of semi-frustating use (not all disks are readable upon play), the unit pretty much went comatose other than the blinking StandBy light! The rest of my Onkyo surround sound system continues to work fine.
I don't have a service manual, but knowing what I know about electronics, I figured it was a blown fuse. Problem is that after opening up the unit, I can't seem find any fuse to replace inside. Any help would be appreciated.
Someone please write me if you know what's causing this power up failure I'll post anything I discover.

I have a onkyo 5 disc DVD changer. The standby light continues to blink on it. The manual says that this may be caused by a blown AC fuse. I have the service manuals but I cannot locate the part.
Are there other problems that would cause this?
Is this part replaceable?
Any help is very much appreicated. |
