i experienced p4s800-mx se main board that fails to run. what i did is cleaned it up and used hot air heating some surface mounteds chips and it works.
maybe you can try it heating the chips and other component moderately.

After a power surge recently my computer no longer worked. Checked power supply etc and narrowed it down to the motherboard not working. Replaced motherboard and computer works fine.
Is there a good place to start or something specific to look for when trying to repair a dead motherboard. Ive looked it over and cant notice anything that looks burnt out etc, all capacitors look ok.
Board is an asus P4S800 -MX SE socket 478.
Thanks for any advice. |

Hi cross
Asus is a reliable motherboard , first, what kind of fault do you have ? it doesn't boot ? .
I had a problem few months ago , it refuses to boot , so , read the manual that associated with resetting of bios by changing link close to bios battery fer 10 seconds , then turn the link back .
In my case it was not totally useful untill I have changed th 3v battery .
I hope that will help you
