I have a MT1701 also and mine will go black because of the power cord. The connection with my power cord messes up sometimes and so I have to move it around where it connects to the TV. I am using a different power cord though and as long as it doesn't move my TV will stay on. I am using a 12V output power cord from a game rocker chair and the brand name is Pyramat and it works just fine. If thats not it, than it may be the fact that some components are built to where if one thing goes out it blocks the electrical current causing the rest not to work.
Thats all I can think of.
