Hi, I agree with what you say mate, it is something "further down the line" that has caused this diode to blow. Diodes may explode with excessive voltage but most likely something else has gone S/C which has fetched it out. I don't know about d-link but some more costly equipment manufacturers use a bridge instead of an in line diode. |

| I have no techical background indeed. I could post here a picture, but I doubt it'd help.. So you suggest me a 1 or 2 amp diode? Ok.. anyway I won't risk to get it worse: if I don't find the datasheet there's little I can fix.

| Don't have a schematic & doubt if you could find one but, in general design, it is not anything specific as it is usually a standard 1~2 amp diode used for polarity protection purposes--never know for sure if you might have caused more damage down the line though?
If that's all, you can get any standard diode as a replacement (provided you have some technical background and soldering skills) |

| hallo!
I've got a DLink router to repair.. I used the wrong power adapter (12V instead of 5V) and the 1st diode on the motherboard burned out.. Does anyonr have some schematics or diagram so that I can figure out what exactly that diode is, and replace it? The router is a dlink DI-614+, but I suppose many dlink routers have similar hardware (expetially the area nearby the power jack would be the same in each model, I hope) Thanks a lot to everybody Ale |
