Is this the POS you have to take the whole back off to replace the lamp? What you can do is remove the back, look for any flip switches and tape them closed and try and start the set. While the lamps trying to fire you should read about +300 volts DC to the big 2 wire plug on the ballast. I've only work on 2 phillips DLPs. Remove the lamp and look for a multi color wheel. The way DLP's work you get the on command, color wheel needs to come to speed, once this happens the dmd sends a on command to the ballast.

Magnavox 50ML8105D projection tv, 1st bulb burn out, got a new one put it in. The screen came on for few seconds. Then went black again. I have sound etc. But ofcourse the bulb does not light so it goes into bulb failure.

Question. could it be the ballast for the bulb? or maybe just a bad bulb. any one know how to test bulb or ballast? or have any other ideas.

Thanks in advance
