Take a multi-meter and put it on ohms, your checking the resistance. It should read a short/close to 0 ohms.

Hi Minnie:
Thanks for the reply. As a newbie, what do you mean 'check e994 to see if it's open'. Visually, everything looks OK. Are you asking for me to check the flow.

Ok, R992 is associated with the B+ line. Check E994 and see if it's open.

Thanks:

The model number for the TV (on back) is: 50SBX70B
Serial Number: V71003083

Is there another number somewhere (for the motherboard) or something?

It's a 5.6 k ohm resistor. Verify the model number. I'm not pulling anything up.

Thanks Vtech for fixing the photos.

jts: not sure, but can't figure out how if something did drip onto it, based on it's position in the home and difficulty to have that happen.

Nonetheless, I'm not sure how/if to proceed. Should I simply replace this part (can I alone?), or replace e944+c707 too as I saw in previous post.

Not sure the order part numbers either.

Symptoms were what sounded like sparking and 'glitches' onthe screen, then it went out.
