I'm not familiar with that particular, but I would say if it's a 1987 model
it's probably safe to say the volume control is not remote controlled.
What you could try is to apply some contact spray on the volume control,
it is just a varriable resistor with contact points. After you spray it turn
the control full left and right. You do not have to let it dry. do not try to
wipe it off. follow mfg. instructions.

I am currently having a problem with my reciever. The problem is that there is no actual sound on the speakers unless you turn the volume ALL the way up. On the way up the volume control there is crackling, then when the volume is about maxed out the crackling builds up into clean sound (except it is at maximum volume, I almost blew my speakers). I presume something is just worn out. Thank you in advance for any help that can be provided to me.

Oh yes it is a Kenwood KR-V76R AM-FM Receiver Stereo Receiver. I just love this thing, my father bought it back in 87' the year I was born lol.
