Bose spaker upgrade!!

Can any one help, I have a current lifestyle 18 system with the single cube speakers x5 and a acoustimass box. Wondered if i can get better quality sound from upgrading to the "jewel" twin speakers with the adaptq center. I have been told that it will sound little or no different unless i put a code, through the remote that will let the unit know, thus inreasing the ohms/power up to the same as the 38/48 which runs the jewel units. I am not a audiophile, can anyone confirm or help?

Whats the matter with Bose? I've got 2 Bose systems in my house and once of our cars has a Bose system in it too.
