Greetings: I have a Hitachi 505bx70b, and have '0' experience with electronics of this calibre, but want to try and fix it myself (I know, this may be the first mistake!) I reviewed the post on similar problem (replacing c707 and e994). I visually inspected c707 and the other one (e994), with no visible problem. However, a large white cylinder object to the right and above of the e994 (when looking from the back) seems to have a burn mark on it's side. I don't know what number is associated with it, but could be R992.
The symptoms before the TV went out was what sounded like sparking in the back, and the picture was flickering. Then it went out.
If a photo would help, could someone tell me how to upload a photo?

I'm looking for the product number for each of these parts and if a newbie like me should even try to repair the R992 piece too. Also, does this R992 mean another problem?

Much appreciated

Minnie is the one that knows Hitachi's. just not sure when he'll be around?
As far as uploading pictures you can pretty much try any of the photo sites like photobucket.com and post the uploaded picture (wait before getting a response though)

Thanks Vtech for fixing the photos.

jts: not sure, but can't figure out how if something did drip onto it, based on it's position in the home and difficulty to have that happen.

Nonetheless, I'm not sure how/if to proceed. Should I simply replace this part (can I alone?), or replace e944+c707 too as I saw in previous post.

Not sure the order part numbers either.

Symptoms were what sounded like sparking and 'glitches' onthe screen, then it went out.

It's a 5.6 k ohm resistor. Verify the model number. I'm not pulling anything up.

Thanks:

The model number for the TV (on back) is: 50SBX70B
Serial Number: V71003083

Is there another number somewhere (for the motherboard) or something?
