Magnavox 27p1-01 Sound Issue

Tv has good picture but it does not have any volume function when pressing the up or down buttons on the set and original remote has been lost. The sound is very low but it is working. I would like to fix any advice would be great.

1) Find a "Universal" remote that turns the set On/Off AND works Channel up/down. If it does those two things, it should also be capable of working the Volume up/down.
2) Find the Volume Up switch and short between the contacts. If the volume increases, replace the switch (you may swap with another switch from the set that you don't use or plan on using).
