We have a problem on our hands and I need some help.

First of all, let me say, I'm not a copier repair person, although I
have bought/sold/repaired computers and laser printers since 1985, so
I know my way around the block on the general process.

I recently bought a Toshiba FC22 color copier and an external Fiery
RIP. The unit had a missing drum (I knew it had problems when I bought
it. I contacted a local dealer, a guy I've known for years and he came
to repair the unit.

This was 5 weeks ago. The intital problem was it wouldn't boot up
completely because of the missing drum. Once that was replaced, it was
discovered that another drum needed replacing, the unit needed to be
calibrated, registration set, etc. And the yellow toner was not up to
par. It was very washed out, throwing the colors completely off on the
unit.

The tech worked on all this off and on for a couple weeks. The power
supply boards have been checked, no problem. We put a new set of toner
cartridges in. The unit was calling for new developer for the black
and that has been replaced. There's a problem with the manual feed
jamming, which he says is simple, although it's still jamming after 2
weeks of me telling him about it. I'm beginning to wonder whether he's
the simple part of this equation.

The main problem is this yellow thing. Running the diagnostics on the
unit, checking the readouts for each of the colors, he finds the
yellow to be performing well within tolerance, as are the other
colors. But the yellow comes out very weak, and there is like a
dusting of yellow across the pages. If it's a black and white
document, you don't get the yellow, only when it's a color document
that contains yellow. It's like the yellow toner isn't fusing to the
paper, then gets blown across the page before it finally fuses.
Now, this occurs whether we're making copies or printing through the
RIP. I have the FieryScan software installed and have used it to scan
a few items. As I said, I've been around laser printers and desktop
publishing equipment almost since its inception and I must say that
this rig gives me the most consistently accurate colors of any setup
I've ever had. The reason I mention this is to show I've ruled out the
scanner portion as being an issue.

Today, the tech was here and he removed the ROMs and reseated them.
Obviously this was to let the unit unscramble its brain, if that was
the problem. This accomplished nothing. The yellow still is an issue.
I've read the documentation as well as a service manual on the unit.
Based on what it's describing in the books, I can't see where the main
board is the problem. It appears as if that board is either going to
be working or not working. I just can't believe that board is
functioning just fine everywhere except in the yellow circuitry. If
that board were functioning improperly in the yellow circuitry,
shouldn't we be getting bad readings on the diagnostics?

Anyway, any advice is welcome. And I'll quickly answer any questions
y'all might have regarding what we've done.

We're in east Texas if any of you guys are close.

Thanks in advance.
