Problems with Philips STU 1130 analog Sat receiver

Hi there,

I have a problem with the above mentioned Sat receiver. Some channels show snow, some don't although all of them come from Astra 1. When the receiver gets warmer the snow becomes heavier finally causing the picture to vanish. Sometimes I even can't tune to particular frequencies. When I switch off the receiver and wait a bit, the situation returns to the "normal" status with little snow.
What might be wrong with my sat receiver?

In my dealings with satellite receivers if they’re junk you replace them. You can take an esr meter and check the caps in the power supply and that’s about it. To see if they’re dry.

thanks for the answer. Yes, maybe it's a good idea to check the caps. Will give it a shot. However, I'm reluctant to throw the receiver away.
What about the other guys and gals here? Do you have any other idea?
