Many thanks to folks in this forum. I began searching the internet to find a fix for my Hitachi TV. Same symptoms as decribed here, after 10 years it simply quit one evening. After attempting to power up only the power on led came on for 1 second then went off then nothing. I used the pic links to locate C707 and e994 after receiving them from Encompass, followed instructions posted here (sodered mine on the underside) and wal-laaa! Its working!!! Thanks, thanks, thanks!!!

Hello all! I'm new to this forum and don't have any exp at tv repair but I really need some help with my tv. It seems that a lot of you have fixed your sets by replacing c707 and e994. Does this only pertain to Hitachi? My tv is a Toshiba 50H71, I have opened a topic about my problem in this same forum so ANY help is much appreciated! Thanks guys!

I want to thank everyone on this forum. My Hitachi died one night. In one hour I surfed the net, found this site, read about the problem, opened my set and measured E994, it was open. I saw the part numbers and where to buy, went and ordered the parts. Time spent 1 hour. The parts arrived a few days later, removed ckt board to where I could work on it, soldered in the new parts (above the board), put the board back into the set. Problem fixxed....FANTASTIC. Time to do the work, 1.5 hours.
Total time involved in repair, 2.5 hours, and saved myself a large repair bill. I cannot thank all of you enough!!!!!!!!!!
Thanks again.

I have read the entire forum. Had same problem as many others. Replaced the C707 and E994 tonight. Plugged in TV. Im certain that 5 green lights came on. I am not sure about K427. Powered on, K427 lit along with all the other green lights. Quickly faded out. Red protection light began to blink. Unplugged & reset circuit. Plugged in. D940 as well as K427 now are not lit. Powered on again ALL green lights lit then faded quickly. Any help right now would be greatly appreciated. Also, in the interest of time does anyone know of a common retailer I could buy diodes, pico fuses etc.....

Is it possible it could have suffered heat damage from soldering the C707 & E994? Or that I need to put more solder on it? Connection not good?

If you meant this "forum," then dozens of suppliers mentioned. Smile
If you meant this "thread," I quickly found two.

I stumbled upon this post and wanted to ensure that I order the correct part. Is the 1000pf 2kv ac or dc? I have found both at a supplier that is not horribly far from here.

Thanks for the help and all of the info.

I have replaced both E994 and C707. The set now turns on with audio and the picture comes in intermittently going back to black screen. Any ideas on where to go and troubleshoot now?
Thanks for any ideas. This blasted problem couldn't come at time when I have the free cash for a new set.

Looked closely in dimmer light and see that all the Green Leds are lit up and the red led is also glowing. Didn't know if that might help for the troubleshooting.
Also checked E995, E996 and found that they are good with Ohm meter.
Thanks,
Bill
