JVC vcr not staying on channel 3 for taping

We have a JVC vcr (model HR-A41U) connected to WOW cable box. When programmed to record, the vcr switches to channel 2 instead of staying on 3, therefore the taping is all snow. I have taken all channels out of the vcr but aux and 3, how can I fix this problem. The cable company says it is not them. JVC says I need to take it to repair. My repair person doesn't even work on vcr's anymore. HELP!
