| if you turn the tv on it has lines in the pictures and the edge of the picture is black what should i look for |

Vertical lines, horizontal lines, diagonal lines?
Random, regular, evenly spaced? |

Start by checking for bad solder joints, on the vertical output device on particular.  |

Should have looked a little deeper.
Still a good idea to check solder joints but LCD sets don't have a vertical output device per say. |
