sony avd-k800p dvd surround system not working

The dvds were stuck in the 5 disk surround system , then I had to manually openm the case to remove the stuck cds, the player comes on but nothing works, when u hit function it goes to dvd mode and it says # 5 dvd is active and it will not clear, how do I go about trouble shooting this system.
