Orion C1500 Combi fault?

I'm a consumer not a tech, but have one of these TV/VCR combi's which is now about 3 years old. Has been set on standby quite a bit at times, and I'm wondering if that in any way might now be responsible for the fact that it's no longer accepting remote control input? Remote is definitely working, as it's showing on my Freeview box infrared, but it's not doing a thing with the TV. Is there an easy fix for this, or is likely to cost enough to be cheaper to just buy another one?
