rca F32650 Keeps scanning menu wont stop!

Hi: I have a RCA model F32650 SET. I have owned about 3 years it has played perfectly, but recently it has a run away scanning menu. Also when playing obout every 3 seconds picture goes black and then returns. Its is like the remote is stuck. Took batteries out of remote same problem. TV repair man said to change tact switches. Does this sound like the problem. Has anyone know of this problem. Could these tact switches be installed by myself have a few years of soider experience. "thanks for any help"
