Try this link for help on CD player problems & fixes. As mentioned in my earlier post, your adjustment on laser power is a temporary fix. Any of the problems u find now could be linked back to a weak laser.

This is a known problem on VRDS including Esoteric: You have to remove the plastcapsule on top of the laser. Lift the focus lens and clean underneath. The laser never dies on these machines, but of course replacing the laser will do the same job, just more expensive
