NEC Multisync LCD 1760 NX - Model L172EN - picture fault

I have an NEC 17" LCD Monitor, Multisync LCD 1760 NX- Model L172EN - with a picture fault.
The black or dark areas of the picture are all snowy, colourful snow at that!

Any ideas what the cause could be?

The fault came on in a matter of minutes whilst I was using it, the monitor is about 2 years old.

Any help with tips or service manuals etc would be much appreciated.
