Sony 41" TV circa 1997

Hi: Any thoughts about a screen that suddenly started to shadow in purples and greens, double imaging network logos also in purple and green? Not cable, as I tried a DVD in with the same results. If it IS a picture tube, any thoughts on how much I would expect to pay for a replacement tube? Is is worth to replace the tube, or just replace the TV??
