Panasonic SA-AK640 stereo gives CD Changer ERR

This is a modular system with a 5 disk CD player. Unit will go into CD mode but then gives Changer ERR when trying to do anything with it. CD is timed correctly, has +5 volts and +8 volts. All switches check good.
