JVC TV not responding to remote.

I wonder if anyone can advise on this please? We have a JVC TV model LT-42TG30J. It will not respond to the remote other than to switch on. Everything else, including switch off, has to be done using the buttons on the TV. I have tried resetting the remote, new batteries and a new remote. No change. So I assume that the remote is OK and the TV is faulty. Can this be repaired?
