JVC GR-M5U Camcorder

Hi,

I just purchased a JVC Gr-M5U Camcorder at a thrift store. It is the VHS-C format and the image in the view finder is negative. It also records on the tape in the same "negative" mode. Is this a setting or a componet failure? Any help would be appreciated.

It is component failure. More than likely it has bad capacitors, they are surface mounted. We usually ended up changing 20 or more to restore camera.
