Poor Picture from vcr/dvd - SCART Problem?

Daewoo df-4100p dvd/vcr combi picture quality deteriorates with some loss of signal altogether. Picture fine when viewing tv with unit switched off. Changed scart did not fix, linked scart to another tv, did not fix. Sometimes if scart removed then refitted problem temporarily fixed. Looks like problem with scart socket in back of vcr/dvd ? Any coments on my conclusion and help to fix ?
