Hi, I'm a newbie to this forum. I do hope someone out there can help me to rectify a fault with my T.V. I'm a service engineer Radio Tv City & Guilds 224. I have been out of the industry for approximately 20 years now, found better prospects driving a bendy bus. Servicing T.V's has changed so much now since the days of valves, that is why I'm asking for assistance. The problem.... No sound No picture, press the on button set relay kicks in and enters standby mode when I press the remote to turn on from standby the relay just clicks in. I checked the line output transistor (Bu2515DX) and found it to be shorting. Replaced the part but still having the same fault. I need to sort out this T.v to get the mrs off my back. Please help. Thank You.

line output transistor is usually destroyed by line output transformer failing, only use genuine sony line transistor, copies will not last, after replacement if you have ABL problems check R518 and R510 both smd, can also damage e-w stage and micro.

Thanks so much for responding, I did suspect line transformer being faulty, just not sure how to check, back in the days we had a gadget.
I do believe the part I installed to be genuine
What do you mean by ABL problems?
Smd is that shorthand for semiconductor?
Micro is that short for microprocessor if so which one?

Thank You

ABL automatic beam limiting
SMD surface mount device
there is only 1 microprocessor in the set IC001
best and easiest way to check line transformer is by substitution
