Goodmans dvd problem

Hope someone can help me.

Recently purchased a Goodmans GHD177DVDR player and the sound is terrible.

Problem with returning it to seller is that I am in Spain and he is in Ireland, he advised me to return it to UK addy for repair but that will cost me a lot, so need to get it sorted over here.

Has any had the same problem and how did they fix it, bear in mind that if I send it in to local tv shop for repair he is Spanish and language barrier.

Is there anywhere I can get tech manual or similar?

Read on other forum that someone had same problem but couldnt follow link as I needed to register and they would not accept a hotmail addy.
