Philips 14PT6107 DVD problem

Hi, can anyone help me with a problem on my daughters TV/DVD combo? The DVD palyer has packed up, disc spins up for ages but cannot read the disc. We also have a problem with the unit 'forgeting' its region, but that can be easily overcome now we have the engineers code!

Please help make a little girl happy (and me!)
