My Technics SL 1900, Direct drive, Turntable turns too fast. There is no service in the area. Is it possible to identify the problem?

Do you have it switched to the correct speed? Do you have it connected to the correct frequency of supply? (50Hz/60Hz) Is there a speed 'lock' button?
