acer 1800 notebook - no picture -HELP ME

is there help for me. Last message it gave me was ' hardware error ' on a blue screen. Since then, I can hear the machine working, the sound seems fine, but there is no picture.
Tried attaching a different monitor, no effect.
How can i see what's wrong with it? or What is wrong?

sounds like the "blue screen of death" to me.....bad hard drive!
someone else may be able to confirm this as well..........

Have you done fn / f8 three times so the screen pops up on a external monitor?
