this tv is 8 years old. the manual shows how to hook up the vcr but says nothing about a dvd player. i bought a used hitachi dvd player and can't make the two work together. can anyone tell me the secret to making it work? thanks!

Hi,

Does your TV has a 2nd set of inputs? If yes, u can use AV1 for VCR, AV2 for DVD or vice versa. If no, u would need to purchase a AV selector that allows u to switch between VCR & DVD.

Note that u cannot route the DVD Video out through your VCR. Your picture will appear mess up. This is a copy-protection feature from DVD manufacturers.
