Hello,
I have a 4 year old Sony KP-51HW40 projection TV. The other day i turned it on and I could only hear the audio. I shut if off and turned it back on and the picture came up and looked fine. As I was watching the TV, the picture started to shift about 3 inches lower than normal viewing height. It would shift between this lower height and normal viewing a few times. I shut the TV off and went to work.
When I got home it turned the TV on. The light blinks red on the front of the TV and it sounds like it is going to turn. There is no audio and no picture except for a Blue ring that appears on the screen after a few seconds. The ring looks similar in shape to the rings around the planet Saturn.
Any input would be greatly appreciated here as far as what the problem is, how it can be fixed, how much if i take to a technician, etc. I have some minor electrical skills as far as swapping internal components in computers but thats about it. I also just checked my receipt from Best Buy. The 4 year service plan I had purchased expired two weeks ago. Oh well, what can you do?

Thanks
Pat

Are you getting double images? Or were you. This # is know for bad tubes. Remove the front grill. Remove the 4 screws on the front cover. You'll see the three tubes. There's a black 'box' with 6 pot adjustment. You want screen control not focus. Turn the blue screen counter clock wise to lower it and turn the set on and see if it turns on and stays on. If yes set the pot so there's not too much blue. Turn down the screen and we'll go from there.
