Dark screen Satellite A85 S-1072

I have a toshiba Laptop (Satellite A85 S-1072). Just recently I left to go to lunch and when I came back my monitor was not working. I plugged a external monitor in to the laptop and it seems to be fine. When i switch back to the internal laptop monitor though, nothing shows on the screen. The screen does get a little brighter, so i think that the backlight is working. I also adjusted the lighting, darker and brighter, but it is still a black screen. Has anyone else had this problem or have any suggestions on what to do? Do I need to replace my screen or is there some other simple solution.
