Hi folks, i have succesfully brought back to life several SSC-DC50AP CCTV cameras and thought i should share with you couple of tips that i have learned in the process.

1. Camera does not operate, power LED not lit.

Solution 1: Check that power switch at the back is switched to ON-position.

Solution 2: Measure that the (external) PSU is working. If not, replace.

Solution 3: remove top cover (7 screws), unscrew backpanel (3 screws) lift and pull out gently, you may want to unplug the flexcable at this point. Measure fuse F501 (800mA) on backpanel PCB, if faulty replace with fuse of same rating, this can be done from top of the PCB but can be somewhat difficult, applying fresh tin before extraction helps. Remember that fuses allways burn for some reason, so while you are there look for burnt components etc.

Solution 4: Check flex cable connecting the back panel.

2. Weird horizontal tearing/striping.

Solution 1: External PSU output quality poor, might measure normal with simple multi-meter but shows "dirty" on oscilloscope, this happens sometimes with bad switch mode PSUs.

Solution 2: Remove top cover (7 screws) and check the flexcable from the image sensor to the processor (?) board (on top).

Solution 3 (very common on these models): Remove top cover (7 screws), remove backpanel (3 screws), unplug flex cables from backpanel, processor board, side board (one with the switches) and the PSU board. ( To unplug a flexcable lift connectors lockslider and pull the cable out. Be VERY CAREFUL when doing this because it's extremely easy to break cables and/or connectors! ), remove processor board (3 screws) and lift the board out, remove PSU board (one with the metal shield and 2 screws, one hidden underneath cables), pull the PSU board backwards and remove the last cable. Do not remove the black screw on the side of the metal shield. Remove solder from 4 metal tabs, remove metal shield from the bottom, you will see 4 more metal tabs remove solder from these, remove solder from IC804 (not marked on bottomside, 4 pin component that is screwed on to the metal shield with that black screw previously mentioned), remove metal shield with IC804 attached. Locate and desolder SMD EL-CO C815 (22uF 35V) in quadrant A3, replace with SMD or normal (with bend legs) condensator, if you have a ESR-meter check other EL-COs. Put back together in reverse order.

Hope that these will help someone out there.
