I’ve made my first DIY PCB, I’m trying to solder Leds into the holes and I’m a complete newbe, I got a Weller WES51, and I’m using a 1/32 0.8 mm tip. I set it to 65 watts it goes from 35-85.
Now I put the tip on the pad next to the led and then tough the solder to the led pin.
When I do manage to get the solder to melt it does not flow right.
It just globs around the led pin, I thought the pad & pin were susposed to suck the solder into the pad area kinda tight so I would have a clean joint, but that don’t work.
QUESTION:
What do I need to do? What am I doing wrong ? I tried putting some solder on the
Iron tip to “Tin” it, but there is no difference. _________________ http://www.docircuit.com | http://www.tryplc.com | http://www.eitouch.com |

| there is welding solders and there is PCB solder both use the same name. so now buy a pound of 30/60 solder with flux inside the solder the more the better. flux make the solder flow or buy flux in a container and brush it on. make sure is liquid not paste there is a difference there also. for a PCB you need a 50 w max. soldering iron the tip depends on what you got to solder and the proximity of other parts. the solder when is good flowing will shine no dull color. clean the board with ajax before to remove oxidation if old tin your parts too like resistors leadsdip in flux and coat the leads you cannot have any problem if you do that. ho yes use a wet damp sponge frequently to clean the iron tip |
