No LCD Display anymore on Panasonic DECT KX-TCD725EM

Hi,

Battery was low on phone so switched it off. Next day when put back in charger unit NOTHING WHATSOEVER on phone's lcd display (although back light still works). Few days now passed and still no display come up. Have tried new rechargable batteries in it but no joy. Phone still makes and receives calls - but not much use as can't see who calling, nor that we have dialled correct number (as nothing coming up on screen - not even battery icon).

Any ideas how to fix this.

(Of interest, we tried unplugging main base unit and leaving for 30 mins. The one handset that we still had working then encountered a similar problem when we plugged unit back in - in that the display vanished. However, after only a short while - and answering a phone call on it, the display on that one did reappear - but the second handset we have - which is the one we've got the problem with is still blank).
