I have a dell w3201c that did not power on after pushing the power button. Other than the button lighting up, with no Dell splash screen, no sound or video, several months ago. After finding out there are little to no repair options (excessive fees and parts availability) I applied logic and took it upon myself to replace the power supply with one I found from an online store that salvages parts. After replacement the unit worked and I thought all was well until after 2 hours when the tv turned itself off. It had the same presentation as the previous p/s, no sound no video and the power button illuminated. However after the initial "huh what happened?" I hit the power button and it powered up fine ....for twenty minutes and then off again, repeat ...this is one of the symptoms i read about while researching my initial issue. I am looking for someone knowledgable to trace and repair either p/s if possible. I know parts in their entirety are not available but maybe the resistors or capacitors are. I'm a carpenter not an electronics person so any help would be appreciated.
thanks

Since Dell doesn't actually manufacture this monitor (or anything else for that matter) you would need to get the FCC ID number off of it and then 'maybe' you can get the actual manufacturer of it.

thanks but according to the fcc if the sticker says "complies with..." there will not be a registration in the database. |

Huh? never heard of that before. How could you be complying with FCC & not be registered unless it is a homemade product or a counterfiet. To the best of my knowledge, some were made by Samsung & some by Lite-on. |

wow I guess everything on the web isn't true. I do not believe in 1800.00 disposable television philosophy because a few cent or dollar shockey diode or power ic from china goes up. I am in denial that this thing cannot be fixed for whatever reason and I am not interested in the splitting of hairs nor giving false information.
there is no fcc id on the sticker pasted on my television nor anywhere inside the television. As stated, if the visable sticker states "in compliance with..." then a registration or id number probably doesn't exist in the manufacturer database. right side of page on the example label.
the link i got the information from:
http://freepctech.com/pc/001/fcc_search_engine.shtml
my apologies if I am misinformed, I am exploring all avenues to get my television repaired affordably. |
