My tv - bought second hand - was fine initially, but after a few hours decided not to work.

TV can be switched on, and appears to respond when we switch channels (both manualy and by remote control), but there is no picture or sound. The red standby light comes on when we switch the tv on, and you can sort of hear that slight tv buzzing sound.. ..but nothing at all. After a while of having the tv on, there is a funny burning smell.

Contacted previous owner who said that it worked fine prior to this, no problems at all.

What do you think seems to be the problem? Is the TV a write-off?
