I need you help PLEASE..
I have an old GVC TV. It is 1997 model.
somebody cut the TV wire.
I opened the TV box and I found that the only way to fix it is to attached a new wire to the old one because I can’t replace the old one completely.
on the TV wire written:
ST-2 E159216 VW-1 105C 18AWGX2C ------- C(UL)
On the new wire written:
SPT-2 E166297 VW-1 105C 18AWGX2CSHENG SHI DA C(UL)
my quistion:
Is it correct to join those two wires together to fix the TV? _________________ Sara Balila |

There is no difference between the wires (18WAG) denotes the same
Why not do it correctly & change the whole cord? perhaps the new cord is slighty different at one end?-- regardless, much better to replace than try splicing by a consumer.
While technically, it is possible to tie both wires together, for the sake of safety & correct polarity, it is NOT something that an average person should tackle. |

in briefly AWG is American Wire Gauge and means diameter size is 18 and both cables should has the same color. however although diameters are same, but conductance ratio of 2 wires are different I am not sure I offer you to solder but in surveillance. If overheating may occurs immediately off the power. You know very high voltage inside. Be carefull.
I think 105C is 105 degree centigrade seems okey. |
