|
|
I am doing some trouble shooting on a boat motor ignition system.
When I measure the power coil with my ohm meter on the 2K scale, I get a reading of .929.
Is this actual value 929 ohms or 929 ohms x 2 = 1858 ohms?
Why would meter manufacturers use a 2x scale anyway. Wouldn't a 1x scale like some meters have save you doing the math?
Thanks for any help. |

In this case, the resistance is 929 ohm.
Most digital multimeters have a so-called 3 1/2 digit display, which can display numbers up to 1999. Hence, all measurement ranges will be 20, 200, 2000 etc, possibly with an exception for the highest voltage and current ranges that are limited to, for example, 1000 V and 10 A due to safety regulations. |
