bad picture on JVC HR-2650U portapack VTR

Hello, first post!
I know painfully little about repair and this isn't an important project but I though I'd see if I could find someone familiar with this model or similar that could give me some tips on what areas of the machine I should check.
Input from camera and aux results in the first picture I'm posting.
VTR playback is the second. It plays back SP tapes in EP speed. Vertical lines and other problems are still there when playing EP tapes.

Based on your pictures, it looks like power supply issues--more than likely dried up electrolytic capacitors.
This is not an easy task for a beginner.
