I have been reading other peoples problems about not having the backlight turn on so I have been checking everything and before i go and search for a new inverter board i had a quick question, when cheking the voltage reading i was trying to look for the on/off wire mention here http://forum.eserviceinfo.com/viewtopic.php?p=105972
I know my model is different but i cam accros a wire which on the inverter board is noted "Blon" and i get a reading of 1.49volts, now is this the one were im supposed to get the 5volt reading or is my tv completely different? Thanks

Not familiar with the specifics of the set but, for the balast-on line, I would say 1.49 is too low of a reading to control any digital circuit(it could be a pulled down reading?). I would think anything from 3-5 V is more applicable. |

what is a pulled down reading? and how can i do a correct reading? also how can i feed it 5v to see if it will light up?
I fallowed where the wire is coming from and it routes to the power supply board BUT it does not go into anything but routes to a wire in another plug on the power board which leads into the the main board and after there i loose the trace... |

By pulled down I meant that it may have been yanked/loaded down (hence low reading) by some sort of a defect in the inverter. Technically, you could isolate the line and see if it comes up any higher? Still, this may not be entirely reliable; for example, the main circuitry will sense a trouble and shut down the balast way before you'd have a chance in isolating the line.
One way is to monitor the line right at start up and look for a quick change.
While in general, the idea of feeding external dc can be helpful in troubleshooting, it is probably not useful here as the signals tend to be timed and synchronized within a specific time frame controlled by syscon.....you can see that without proper documentation(done on purpose by manufacturers), &/or experience, it is rather difficult. Yet another reason for "board replacement" with everything in consumer electronic nowadays. |

The power to the inverter is a monitored 5 volts and the supply is usually either 12 or 24 volts. If the supply is missing the 5 volts drops down. |
