Hello. I live in an aprtment building and they broadcast announcements over the tv on a certain date and time, which in itself seemed abnormal. Somehow they are able to turn on the tvs and turn them to channel 3 before the announcements. This really annoys me because the announcements never pertain to me and then I have to turn the tv off. And if I'm watching tv when they show the announcements, I have to get up and change the channel from channel 3 back to the channel I was watching. I'm sure this bothers others as well!

How exactly do they control they control the tvs and how can I stop them from controlling mine?

BTW, it is an odd setup. The tv was already permanently mounted on the wall when I moved in. It is a Magnavox wall mount. The remote is not with it, so to change the program, turn it on/off and change the volume, I have to stand on a chair to reach!

The apartment is unfurnished, so I'm very surprised that the tv was already here. Does anyone else think this is an odd practice?

I did talk to a friend of mine an he said perhaps the tv is for the managements use only and I should not be using it for my own use. :s

Best tool to use for this tv sounds like a good sturdy baseball bat, then get your own set to watch.

Sounds like yr TV has a wired remote to the management's office! Laughing

Perhaps one way is to trace the signal cables going in/ out of the TV and see if u could disable them... A pic would help. Smile
