If the provided code is not working:

The only reason for a code to not work would be purely that it had previously been decoded, recoded, reprogrammed or repaired or that you supplied the wrong information.

Thank you very much for the answer. The new car owner told me he had requested the code from a dealer and they gave him a code which worked, but he lost the code. It is not clear to me now if the dealer recoded the radio or calculated the code from the serial. I will test it on the radio to make things clear. Thanks!

Today I testet the given code.
The radio was in a frozen ERROR state. I powered and waited, cutted power, waited again nothing happened.
I tested resseting it by powering on pressing 2, 5 and ON. It worked only after releasing the combination as fast as possible after pressing ON.
The radio powered on but beeping at every 2 seconds for some minutes until CODE and 0000 were shown on the display.
I then entered the given code and continued in the setup menu asking CURVE, REGION, .... . All working now.

(offtopic: there is a small problem which i found on many renault radio cassete player - they randomly shut down for half a second and then power on quickly - what is causing this?)
