Very good to here! One question... I've used a 5 mm pitch PP cap, that was clearly to small that I fixed with a small cable extension. I should have used a 10 mm, but you used 15 mm. Wasn't that really to large pitch? |

Yeah it was a little bit too large,
but i bended the "legs" of the capacitor a little bit, and it fitted just fine.
I'll try to make a picture of a capacitor with the bent legs. |

I have same problem, I have replaced the C405, and the problem didn't go
I will buy the next two C411 and c406 and I will post the my amp status.
The switching off in the amp was so annoying, therefore I went to the shop and I bought new RX V2065! Good model, loaded with new features, but personally I think my RX V650 has better sound! sad... |

Hi there!
If capacitors exchange didn't help, I suggest give up- main processor could be faulty, or general fault in standby circuit is possible... You can just measure diodes, transistors in standby module, and exchange optocouplers one by one- take off one, use new, and if doesn't help, use old one into place of second one, and again... some of You seems to be newbies in electronics, it's nothing bad, but You must realize, that units with so complicated circuits like Yamaha's receivers can repair those, who has not only basic knowledge and practice- believe me- even very handy specialists sometimes cannot repair these units, especially with objective- standby fault... Good luck friends... |

My RX-V650 has been fixed too by replacing C 405, 22nF / 630V .
when I messured the old C 405 I could see that the value had droped from 22nF to appox 2nF. |

By the way- on the C406 should be not less as 7.00 VDC, and sometimes add extra capacity to the C411 will help. For sure, check all ground connections, especially on the main and on the DSP module. |
thanks elekos.
i never thought i could bring life back to my old yamaha for a coule of quids. my happiness did not last very long though. As i was trimming off the excess capacitor wire sticking out of the PCB, i forgot to unplug the amp hence there was a spark and the anp switched off afterwards.
my happiness was very shortlived.
I would love to get your advice on what i could have damaged and how to repair it. This may be a hard one.
look forward for your reply
