I just purchased a beautiful used Hitachi 50EX14BV rear projection tv. In the process of bringing it home, the morons (family) that transported it broke the clear shield & punched a hole in the screen. Is there any place to purchase a replacement, & if so, is this a job somebody with average skills can do? Or will the cost of replacement parts (if available) be more than the tv is worth? Fix or junk - what do the experts say? Thanks in advance!

You think you're the first person with this problem? Do a search for other projos with a broken/cracked screen.
By the way it IS usually SCREENS!

The technology between brands is quite similar: projection source > mirror > screen(s). Smaller obviously won't do, size that's equal would be best, or larger - but would involve some interesting trimming down.

Local TV shops / Curbside on garbage day / ebay / craigslist
