My old Sony KV1926R TV has several channels preset. The remote doesn't work at all.

How can I reset the channel presets so that all channels will come up in order when I push the channel up button on the front of the TV? The manual talks about using the remote to select channels, and then pushing the 'add; or 'erase' buttons on the front of the tv, but our remote is dead.

I have a universal remote. When i select a channel, and press the 'add' button, i don't get the '+' sign to show that the channel was added, and when i go back to check, the channel was not added. What am i doing wrong?
