Mitsubishi 50" DLP Model:VS-50707 Question

My Mitsubishi 50" DLP Model:VS-50707 only works while using the s-video cable. When I plug it in to the av cables from the DVD player I hear sound but no picture"very blurry and lines crossing." My cable also does the same thing. While the S-Video cable is in it works perfectly. Is there any suggestions for a fix?
