My sanyo tv searches back and forth from one channel to another. Two channels in succession. For ex., if on ch 21 it will fade in and out to ch 22 then back to 21 continually. A tv repair shop said it was cheaper to buy a new tv than to repair. Any ideas on which part needs replacing?

I failed to mention with the sanyo tv, it works normally when viewing from a vcr or a dvd player. It's only problem is with the cable switching back and forth. Any ideas please e mail me at: [email protected]. Thankyou!

What you seem to experience here is called "chanel drifting". In most cases replacement of the tuner pack (IF or RF depending on model) fixes the problem. Prices for tuner vary considerably from model to model. Some company specialize in refurbishing tuners and would give you a buyback value for your old tuner. so get as many quotes as possible and if the TV's picture and sound quality is worthed, go ahead. Time involved in replacing the tuner rarelly exeed 1 hours.

Hi,

Sometimes its due to bad joints in the soldering of tuner module to the main board. Try re-soldering if u have not done so. Wink

Modle #. There's a resistor that opens. B+ line to the tuner.
