Does anyone have a schematic or information on this electrostatic air cleaner? Or know anything about servicing it?
The one I have appears to work but does not build up a significant amount of dust. It is working as evidenced by occasionally zapping. The red ("wash me") light comes on after prematurely a few days but goes out upon removing and cleaning the filter.
I believe the plates should be charged to 5-10k volts but I have only been able to verify voltage above 1000. This is the extent of my voltage range. I took reading through a neon bulb to limit current to minimum.
Inside there is a fairly substantial power supply built of discrete components. There is an adjustable resistor.
I don't feel it is functioning up to par as an electrostatic filter. I also don't know what in electronic terms triggers the red light. Current draw to the power supply? Change in capacitance? Could the level at which the red light comes on be adjustable?
Any help with this would be appreciated. |
